Tech Specs and Downloads

Follett eBooks can be accessed over the web via the FollettShelf, and can also integrate easily with most library systems. To ensure that Follett eBooks work properly for you, check your system against the following technical specifications.

The FollettShelf is a web service that allows access to your Follett eBooks from any workstation with Internet access. Depending on how you configure your FollettShelf and/or library system access for your patrons, you may be providing online (web) access and also offline (download) access to your Follett eBooks. Online (web access) to Follett eBooks is supported by the Full-featured Online Reader or Basic Online Reader. Access to downloaded Follett eBooks is supported by the Offline Reader.

FollettShelf

“Minimum” refers to hardware requirements for basic performance while running FollettShelf. “Recommended” requirements imply increased system resources which generally result in faster performance and more satisfactory end user experience. Access to multiple Follett eBooks via multiple tabs in a single browser, or via a single session of a given browser, is not supported.

Full-featured Online Reader

The Full-featured Online Reader is used when reading eBooks in a supported web browser. The Full-featured Online Reader is launched automatically from the FollettShelf and your library system when reading or checking out online.

Adobe® Flash® Player 10 or higher is required to run the Full-featured Online Flash reader.

The Basic Online Reader

The Basic Online Reader is used when reading eBooks in a supported web browser but without Adobe Flash 10 or newer installed. If Flash is not detected when a Follett eBook is being opened, the user will be offered the option to download and install Flash or to proceed to the Basic Online Reader by clicking Read eBook without Flash.

Offline Reader

Once an eBook is downloaded for offline reading, the Offline Reader is used to access the eBook.
